George Benson
"Give Me the Night" (Vinyl)
Perhaps its the up-tempo feel, perhaps its the funkier feel the album has, perhaps its the fact that Quincy Jones produced this album in an era coming soon after Michael Jackson's break-through "Off the Wall" but this album doesn't feel like any of the other "jazzier" records I've come across today.
If it weren't for knowing some of the rest of his output I would be ready to shelve this with my funk/soul records instead of jazz.
Quincy Jones' arrangements are really a key element in this album which, perhaps, make some fans shy away from this record, but this is much closer to the vein of what I like to listen to.
